Two years! Two whole years. A little longer actually. It's incredible. I didn't know to expect to stay here so long! How about you? It's been over a year right?
I've made a lot of friends and family, but a lot of them have left too. It's been good but hard.

[Last summer and the month spent as a Familiar were among the most relaxing weeks he'd ever had, even including the torture and death. But that had been temporary!]
Mine have left too. Maybe one day they'll come back.
Mmmm, I'm not sure entirely, but I suspect all the bad stuff going on back home by the people in charge. Getting memories to include more terrible stuff and the time to process it, I think he changed.
To be honest, I think we all have potential for any Role, perhaps. Even though I feel like Familiar is the best Role for me, I could probably be a Myth or a Legend, too. Maybe my comfort as a Familiar means I stay one. Perhaps we all accept what Role we're given, and doing so means we stay that way.
I believe they'll save the world, but it's unfortunate the world needs saving.
Some of my closest family here are Myths. Looking at them, considering myself, I think... I'd be stronger. I'd learn how to be stronger and not only support my family but protect them. I'd get better at conflict. You know how species with horns have ways to butt heads and learn to do that?
As a Legend, maybe I'd do better at learning to look outside the people I care about to help everyone. Maybe, like, becoming a hunter? I know I cannot become a hunter here. There's no hunter's exam, but that seems right.
How about you? What do you think you'd be like as a Familiar or Myth?
Do you really think the horns are literally for butting heads? I've never seen anyone do that. I could see maybe antlerish horns. Or goat horns? Do other species do it too? My goat in Never Fade uses it as a hello. But protection, isn't that a Legend trait?
You could hunt other things here. It wouldn't be the same, but there's spirits that could use protecting from wildlife. I've seen how helpful you can be at school though, and not just for your family. Maybe you're already doing that.
I know what I'm like as a Familiar. Last August when everyone's Roles shifted around I spent a while as one. I was very lazy, and spent much time sleeping in the sun. It was very relaxing, I wouldn't mind doing it again. Though washing soap out of all that fur was very difficult in my primary animal shape! I'll get back to you on myth. So far it's easier to think, which is nice.
